“The improvements I’ve noticed since going sober are I feel like my concentration/memory has improved a lot. My skin feels a lot healthier. I feel a lot more confident & happier. I’m really into running too and its helped me loads to get my runs done instead of being too hungover to do them.
Another benefit is I’ve saved loads of money and I really love waking up feeling fresh every morning remembering the whole night before.
The first year of sobriety felt like a huge deal to me and I was constantly shouting about it, but I think that was just the rage inside me that I didn’t do it 16 years sooner. Now I feel a lot more relaxed about it and I can go to the pub comfortably and order a 0% or a soft drink without the fear of being judged.
My wife, most my friends & family all still drink alcohol which is fine with me as it’s each to their own.
But if alcohol has made your life a misery too many times you should give sobriety a go, stop worrying about what others around you think because the reality is most people don’t care whether you drink alcohol or not. And if they do, they’re probably not worth being in your life.”
